Community Business Weekend dates for 2018 confirmed

Campaign Collective, the social enterprise communications agency that provides support to charities and campaigners, has been re-appointed to work on the third annual Community Business Weekend (CBW) campaign. The appointment was made by Power to Change, the Lottery-funded trust set up to support community businesses in England.

Community Business Weekend is a unique opportunity for community businesses across England to demonstrate the positive impact they have on society and tell their stories of success.

The 2018 Weekend will take place over the May Bank Holiday this year, running from 4-7 May.

Last year 228 community businesses registered to take part in Community Business Weekend, with nearly 12,000 people attending 151 events across England. The campaign was popular among the sector too, with 96% of organisers recommending that other community businesses take part next time.

Campaign Collective is now in the process of developing the communications strategy, working closely with Power to Change and Eden Project Communities.

Following the success of last year’s campaign, the Collective has been given an enhanced brief this year, responsible for developing and delivering a media and stakeholder engagement strategy. The agency will again be responsible for the website and outreach to community businesses to support them deliver their activity.

Ian Morton, Campaign Collective Member, commented:

The community business sector is one to watch, with massive potential for enhancing the local economy in this country. Community Business Weekend 2018 is an opportunity for community businesses to demonstrate what a difference they make locally – and could make in the future.

We really enjoyed the partnership with Power to Change and Eden Project last year and we look forward to building on that success in 2018. Together, we aim to demonstrate to local and national decision makers why they should be taking notice of this burgeoning sector.
