In a move to support local talent, Campaign Collective has awarded a £150 grant to the Brass Class at Ottery St Mary Silver Band in East Devon. This funding will enable an enthusiastic group of young brass players to access new music and expand their musical repertoire.
The Brass Class, a group of young musicians of various ages and abilities, meets weekly to explore the joy of making music together. It aims to provide opportunities to all by offering regular musical training, music and uniform for free to members. This inclusive environment fosters not only musical talent but also teamwork and friendships among the musicians. The grant will be dedicated to purchasing new music, ensuring the students have engaging material to learn and perform.
Campaign Collective, actively contributes to communities through campaign work. Each year, a portion of its profits is allocated to community funds and, this year, has chosen the young brass players of Ottery St Mary as a group of its beneficiaries.
Gail Denning, the Musical Director of the Ottery St Mary Brass Class, said:
“This funding from Campaign Collective to support our young learning community is wonderful. It will not only allow our young musicians to learn new pieces but will also boost their confidence as they prepare for our local concerts. We are incredibly grateful for this support and excited about the opportunities it creates for our students.”
Campaign Collective Member Louise Akers said:
“At Campaign Collective, we believe in making a difference in our communities. This grant is a small way we can contribute to the cultural fabric of Ottery by supporting the next generation of brass players.”
The Brass Class aims to perform in three local concerts each year, providing the young musicians a platform to showcase their talents and share their love for brass music with the community.
