Campaign Collective Community Fund supporting a creative approach to child mental health

In an initiative to support children’s mental health, the Campaign Collective’s Community Fund has donated £100 to HeadsUP Mental Health Awareness, a charity dedicated to improving the emotional wellbeing of children and young people. This donation enabled HeadsUP Mental Health Awareness to purchase arts and crafts materials for use in the charity’s 1-1 mental health sessions with children and young people.

As a social enterprise, Campaign Collective makes a positive contribution to society through campaign work and each year a proportion of profits is donated to a community fund that makes a difference to Members’ local community well-being.

HeadsUP Mental Health Awareness works to empower and equip young people to look after their mental health. The charity provides support and guidance in schools and youth settings to help children and young people develop personal strengths and mental wellbeing skills that prepare them for adult life.

The mental health of children and young people is an increasingly important issue and it’s now thought that one in five young people in the UK aged 8-25 has a probable mental health condition.

The charity believes that art can have a profound impact on children’s mental health. Through these creative sessions, children are given the opportunity to express their feelings, explore their emotions, and build resilience in a safe and supportive environment.

Paula Baker, Director and Founder of HeadsUP Mental Health Awareness, said:

“Arts and crafts can be a safe way for children to express their emotions and thoughts. It has also been proven to ease stress and help children release any pent-up emotions they might be feeling in their day-to-day life.

“The new arts and crafts supplies we’ve been able to buy using the Campaign Collective community fund donation have directly impacted the lives of the children we work with by providing them with resources to express themselves and work through their challenges. The children have loved using them (and so have the staff!).”

Campaign Collective Member Louise Akers said:

I am delighted that our Community Fund has had the opportunity to support HeadsUP Mental Health Awareness. Mental well-being for children is crucial for their development and happiness, and it is so important that we ensure that young minds receive the support they deserve.”
