Engaging the UK’s post-election government

Nancy Platts, Campaign Collective member, will share her extensive campaigning experience at “Engaging the UK’s post-election government,” a webinar and discussion taking place on Tuesday 25 June, organised by FairSay and the Campaigning Forum (ECF), and sponsored by PostBug.

With the UK General Election on 4 July, the polls suggest that there could be a change in government. As the last change was 14 years ago, many campaigners will never have worked through a government transition.

Nancy will set out what campaigners need to think about as they prepare for all eventualities after the election. How did the style of government change in 2010 compared to what came before? How might things change under a possible Labour government, both in what their priorities are and how they might go about achieving them? What should campaigners be doing now to hit the ground running with new ministers – and to make sure their campaigns, their organisations and their staff teams are as effective as possible?

Nancy has worked in communications and campaigns for over 30 years, including posts in the trade union movement and Greater London Assembly. She fought two general elections as a Labour Party candidate in Brighton and has worked in Parliament for the Leader of the Opposition. Nancy has also been a local Councillor and Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council.
