Brathay Apprentice Challenge

For the Brathay Apprentice Challenge Members of the Collective team have worked in partnership with Brathay Trust professional development staff to deliver the search for the apprentice team of the year.

The Brathay Apprentice Challenge tests apprentices on their teambuilding, leadership, logistical and communications abilities in a series of work-related challenges.

Teams of nine apprentices entering the Brathay Apprentice Challenge can be from a single employer, a group of small businesses, an industry sector, supply chain or training provider.

The Challenge sees teams compete in a series of work-related challenges to develop new skills, showcase their employer and engage with young people and employers promoting the benefits of apprenticeships.

2017 was the sixth edition of the Challenge and teams from SMEs to large organisations and from training providers to public sector bodies entered. The apprentices covered a vast array of careers vital to the economy, including aerospace, construction, engineering, creative industries and healthcare.

The 2017 teams conducted more than 555 school visits (an increase of 42% on 2016) to talk about the benefits of apprenticeships, recruited over 500 employers to offer apprenticeships (25% increase year on year) and delivered 44 projects to help their communities.

The Challenge has been shortlisted for Third Sector Awards, Charity Times Awards for three years running and Public Sector Communications Awards.
