Campaign Collective worked with EngineeringUK to deliver Tomorrow’s Engineers Week 2017 to shine the spotlight on engineering careers and encourage more young people to consider an engineering career.
We created a social media campaign which aimed to inspire young people and create shareable content. Our Engineers On A Mission activity showcased how engineers are helping make the world a better place, twelve films were produced and released showcasing how engineers are on a mission to tackle the issues young people care about the most, such as homelessness, saving lives and helping animals.
The case studies used were not stereotypical engineers and we worked with a variety of employers including Red Cross, GSK and the Royal Veterinary College.
The films were designed to inspire young people to pursue their dreams by becoming an engineer and the content reached almost 150,000 11-18 year olds and the films have now been watched across Facebook and YouTube more than 60,000 times with the films also inspiring more than 1,300 tweets and almost a thousand engagements on Instagram.
More widely, Campaign Collective delivered media relations, stakeholder engagement and event support to engage young people in engineering.
The activity drove an 172% increase in web traffic from young people wanting to find out more about engineering careers. In addition to the films, more than 150 media articles were placed and 12,000 uses of the #TEWeek17 hashtag drove awareness of the campaign.
